Cinema 3D display technology makes the A540 something to behold

LG is going to bring out all the guns at the upcoming CES trade show, or enough of them so that onlookers won't easily be able to tell the difference.

Of course, once they lay eyes on the A540 notebook, they may forget all about LG's other products, for a while at least.

This is one of those notebooks which can produce 3D images without relying on glasses.

Normally, in order for someone to enjoy a 3D film or photo, they have to wear special eyewear.

Said eyewear is notorious for looking unflattering (to say the least), and it doesn't exactly go easy on the eyesight either.

Thus, with the new notebook, LG hopes to completely remove the matter of eye fatigue and all the problems that stem from it.

A540 has a screen of 15.6 inches (up to Full HD resolution) featuring the Cinema 3D technology.

Prospective buyers will also get to choose whether to have an IPS panel or not.

That said, this would not be much of an entertainment mobile computer without at least decent video horsepower.

No insult intended to Intel's integrated graphics, but it is no mystery that the ones offered by the Core i7/i5 CPUs are sub-par when it comes to anything more visually-demanding than web browsing.

Thus, LG carefully introduced an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics card.

Other components include up to 8 GB of RAM, a hard disk drive (HDD) of as much as 1 TB, 4.1 channel audio, a card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA and a 6-cell battery.

LG did not say what price the notebook would have, but it did mention that sales would start sometime this quarter (January-March, 2012).

Those interested will get to see more of this item, as well as some Super Ultrabooks and an all-in-one PC, during CES (January 10-13).
