Initially slated for a December 2 release at Bell Canada, LG Eclypse’s launch date was pushed back to December 12. The affordable smartphone made its entrance on the Canadian market last week via Bell and Virgin Mobile carriers.

Today, SaskTel announced the availability of the LG Eclypse as well. Customers can purchase the handset for as low as $49.99 (38 EUR) with a new three-year agreement, or for a suggested retail price of $299.99 (230 EUR).

The carrier offers additional pricing options for customers who do not want to commit to a three-year agreement, but cannot afford to pay the phone’s full price.

In this regard, the LG Eclypse can also be purchased for $199.99 (150 EUR) with a one-year contract or for $149.99 (115 EUR) on a two-year term.

In addition, all customers who purchase the LG Eclypse with a new contract are required to pay a $25.00 (20 EUR) one-time activation fee that will appear on their first SaskTel bill.

According to LG, the Eclypse is a mix between a smartphone and a messaging phone: “touch and text on the go with the LG Eclypse Android smartphone.”

The smartphone comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a pretty decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

LG Eclypse is a budget-friendly smartphone, which is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform and packs 150 MB onboard memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

The 800 MHz processor is more than enough to provide users with a smooth Internet browsing and multitasking experience. There’s also a 3-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and video recording capabilities.

On a side note, LG Eclypse is also available in the United States, as LG Enlighten, through Verizon Wireless carrier.
