LG’s yet unannounced LG E980 smartphone is drawing nearer to its official launch, and the device has already received the necessary certification from the Bluetooth SIG.

The handset will pack Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity inside when launched, in addition to offering support for LTE / W-CDMA / GSM networks, it seems.

Previously, the device was spotted in a UAProf on LG’s website, with a full HD touchscreen display, and Google’s Android (possibly Jelly Bean) operating system loaded on top.

No other details on the new smartphone have been provided for the time being, but rumor has it that LG might launch it as the successor for its flagship Optimus G handset.

Provided that E980 is indeed the Optimus G2 smartphone, we might not see it made available until the second half of the year, recent reports suggested.
