Not too long ago, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics was rumored to plan the release of a successor for its Optimus 7 device that landed on shelves last year with Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system on board, and it seems that the device has just received GCF certification.

According to the previous rumors on this device, LG teamed with the Jil Sander Design House of Germany for the release of this mobile phone, and things seem to be just the same.

The device, featuring model number LG E906, has just passed through the GCF (Global Certification Forum) certification process, and did so successfully, the latest reports on the matter note.

It should be released as the direct successor of last year's Optimus 7, and the fact that it sports a model number similar with the existing device, which was launched as E900, confirms that.

The new device is said to arrive on shelves with GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz, W-CDMA 2100(I)/1900(II)/900(V) MHz frequencies on board, as well as with a series of features that will bring it closer to its predecessor.

However, there will also be enhancements packed with E906, starting with the fact that it would be a Jil Sander Design House-branded device, and that it will run under the new Windows Phone Mango OS flavor.

The specifications list of this device reportedly shows a 3.8-inch screen with touch capabilities, the same as on Optimus 7, along with a single-core application processor that might have been clocked in at 1Ghz, and which is reportedly complemented by 512MB of RAM.

Moreover, the device is expected to pack an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, but the rest of the specs are shrouded in mystery for the time being.

One way or the other, since the first Mango mobile phones were already unveiled to the world, it should not be too long before more of them become official, and the Jil Sander Design House-branded Optimus 7 might be one of them.
