Acer may have grabbed the first spotlight by revealing its M0 plans, but LG doesn't seem inclined to lag behind, which is why it has now followed up with an announcement of its own. Apparently, the company aims to start its back to school period, at least on the display market, by unveiling a new line of LCDs. Said series will go by the name of E60 and will attempt to entrance consumer hearts, or eyes in this case, though their combination of performance and slim design.

No doubt the industry already has high hopes now that medicinal uses have been found for LCDs. Unfortunately, it will probably take years for a practical implementation of this discovery to emerge. Meanwhile, manufacturers of such display solutions will have to do their best to reduce the environment footprint as much as possible. As such, LG did its best to drive the E60's energy efficiency as high as it could, even as it made them just 12.5 mm thick.

As far as actual performance numbers are concerned, the LCD are actually quite decent. Currently, two models exist, one of 22 inches and one with a screen size of 23 inches. Both of them have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. This DCR correlates to a static contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Finally, for compatibility with a wide range of input sources, whether set-top boxes, PCs or others, the models feature D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectors.

Of course, since they won't show up until Autumn, the LG E60 haven't shown up on any retailer, not even on pre-order. Fortunately, LG did, at least, reportedly reveal the pricing details. The 22-inch will sell for roughly 229 Euro, whereas the 23-inch LCD monitor will have a price tag of 249 Euro. Both will be backed by a three-year warranty.
