Without a doubt, wireless charging technologies are set to become mainstream in the near future (a couple of years max), and in order to be quite well-prepared for the moment when that happens, LG has just announced the development of their first wireless charging product, called, quite simply, the LG Wireless Charging Pad.

The South-Korean company said nothing on whether it has developed this technology in-house or purchased the license from one of the few companies out there that have already come up with some pretty interesting solutions of this type, such as Powermat and Energizer, just to give a couple of examples.

However, whichever the case might be, LG claims that their Wireless Charging Pad (part number WCP-700) will be able to deliver quite good level of functionality, while in the same time retaining a very sleek and attractive form factor.

So, the Korean company claims that their wireless charging technology is capable of delivering an effective range of around 7mm from the center of placement guide, while the charging pad itself is fairly small and easy to carry around, given the fact that it measures just around 6.29 x 3.54 x 0.39 inches.

Moreover, the new charging pad from LG also offers users audible and tactile feedback when a phone is placed on the pad, as well as multi-colored LED lights to provide important information regarding the phone battery's charging status (alternate orange and green – solid or flashing – LED lights will inform the user whether the device is working, the phone is fully-charged, etc.).

Unfortunately, for the time being, LG's not provided any information related to their wireless charging solutions' pricing and/or availability, but we're likely to find out more details on this topic in the coming months, since we're pretty sure that they'll roll it out as soon as possible.
