South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona its newly unveiled LG Mini (LG GD880) handset, a feature phone that comes to the market with a 3-Way Sync service, called LG Air Sync. According to the company, the solution offers users the possibility to keep the data on their handsets synced at all times with info on their PC on in their browser history, all made over a wireless network.

The new device is expected to become a very popular mobile phone on the market, LG notes, based on the fact that it is the first handset that sports LG Air Sync, a cloud computing feature that was available until now only for smartphones. At the same time, the leading handset vendor notes that the new LG Air Sync solution has been designed so as to work in three ways “in keeping tabs on users' personal preferences and information.”

“We live in an information-oriented society with vast amounts of data and content scattered all over the place. Because of this, one of the major battles in the future mobile market is likely to be in the data management technology industry, focusing on seamless access among different devices,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We have developed the LG Mini, which offers technological integration with its unique LG Air Sync service, in response to this trend.”

The manner in which LG Air Sync works includes the History Sync function, through which it updates the phone's browser with the 100 most recent websites visited on the PC, so that one can go to the same web page when leaving the computer. Secondly, the Personal Information Manager (PIM) Sync function transfers contact details and daily plans from the LG Mini to the PC. And third, there is the R-Click function, which makes any picture on a website the wallpaper on the phone with a simple click.

The LG Mini is touted as the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone on the market at the moment. It also includes a fast browser, as well as push-email capabilities, great social networking functionality, a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper, FM radio, Wi-Fi connectivity, A-GPS, and support for 7.2 Mbps HDSPA. The handset is expected to land on the European market in March, LG concludes.
