Will land in early March in France and Italy

South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced today the launch of yet another touchscreen-enabled device, the LG Cookie Plus (LG GS500). The new device is being unveiled to the world one day after the company announced the launch of two other touchscreen handsets, LG GT350 and LG Mini.

According to the leading handset vendor, the new LG Cookie Plus comes to the market as a 3G-enabled handset with social networking functionality, while delivering great touchscreen capabilities. When compared to the older LG Cookie, its highly-popular predecessor, LG Cookie Plus shows that it can rise the bar with a wide range of new features, the mobile phone maker notes.

“The LG Cookie Plus is both a celebration of the original Cookie phone, which brought touchscreen technology to all, and an exciting first step in our new line of phones that will continue the Cookie legacy by adding creativity and affordability to the touch experience,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The new LG Cookie Plus is expected to prove a sociable, enjoyable and affordable mobile phone, bringing forth full touchscreen capabilities, as well as a fun graphical interface, which is coupled with social networking connectivity. The handset can keep users easily connected to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other popular sites. In addition, it also comes with LiveSquare, a unique peer management application from LG, keeping users in touch with closest contacts.

Moreover, there are also a series of fun features the new LG Cookie Plus comes to the market with, so as to keep users entertained, including LG’s Editable Screenshot MMS, through which one can capture, edit and send web images, or an animated UI with appealing colorful theme options. According to LG, the new device is expected to become available for purchase in France and Italy in early March, and should hit a total of 45 countries all around the world.

In addition, LG also announced that it planned on delivering a full batch of new Cookie handsets to the market in 2010, and that it will unveil them during the following few months. Not to mention that these devices are expected to be released as affordable touchscreen phones, suitable for “a variety of ages and tastes.”
