It looks like MetroPCS is about to debut an LTE-enabled handset, the LG Connect 4G. Its model number, LG MS840 may suggest that this is a mid-entry LG smartphone, unlike the Optimus Black, also known as LG MS855, which is one of the company’s premium devices.

However, the carrier has yet to announce the phone’s exact release date along with its full specs sheet, so there’s no telling what features it will offer at launch.

According to the folks over at Pocketnow, the LG Connect 4G, also known as LG MS840, runs Google’s Android operating system, possibly Gingerbread, and is powered by a dual-core processor.

The dual-core CPU alone would make the LG Connect 4G a much better smartphone in comparison with the Optimus Black, which features only a single core TI OMAP 3630 processor clocked at 1GHz and a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processing unit.

Anyway, the handset’s main strongpoint is the LTE support and the 4-inch WVGA NOVA capacitive touchscreen display. In addition, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

Aside the dual core processor, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB onboard memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

More leaked details reveal that the LG Connect 4G won’t be a MetroPCS exclusive, which means that Android enthusiasts living in the United States should expect to find this one at more major carriers.

In fact, the guys over at Pocketnow found out that the same smartphone is expected to hit stores at Verizon Wireless as LG VS840, as well as Sprint as the LG LS840.

Rumor has it that Sprint might launch this LG Android-powered smartphone as soon as its LTE network is deployed later this year.
