Rumors about the upcoming release of the LG Optimus LTE at Bell Canada surfaced last week, but neither the carrier, nor the manufacturer confirmed the launch of the device.

Although Bell Canada is still mum about the upcoming launch of the Optimus LTE, LG has just came forward with an official announcement that confirmed that the smartphone will soon join Bell's portfolio of “superphones.”

Furthermore, LG mentions that the smartphone will be launched at Bell Canada “in the coming weeks,” but no exact release date has been disclosed yet.

Touted the world’s first HD LTE smartphone, LG Optimus LTE comes with a stunning 4.5-inch True HD IPS capacitive touchscreen that supports 1280 x 720 resolutions at 16:9 ratio.

According to LG, sales of Optimus LTE in South Korea surpassed all of previous LG smartphones for the same period, and are mostly due to the phone's high quality display.

Aside the fact that the screen is capable of displaying sharp and crisp images with 1280 x 720 x 3 RGB, True HD IPS technology makes it superior in color accuracy, clarity, natural color and battery efficiency to any other mobile display available in the market.

LG empowered the Optimus LTE with a 'nasty' 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit, which provides users with an amazing gaming experience on the HD display.

The only 'downside' of the smartphone seems to be the fact that is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, but this was the latest version available at the time of its launch. LG has yet to announce its plans for any Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for its devices.

Last but not least, the superphone boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front facing camera for video calls.
