South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced on Tuesday plans to come to the market with a new version of its very popular Chocolate mobile phone. Although it mentioned that the new device should land sometime before the end of August, the company hasn't said too much on the specifications of the handset.

Fortunately, some details on what the upcoming phone will be able to deliver to users have leaked into the wild in the meantime, including a model number, LG BL40, which clearly shows that this phone is the fourth in the company's Black Label Series, following the original Chocolate handset, released three years ago, and the LG Shine and LG Secret, the other two included in the lineup.

A UA Profile that has been loaded on the company's site shows that the new mobile phone should come to the market with a 21:9 aspect ratio display (Cinema widescreen), which is just being introduced on normal LCD TVs, it seems. Moreover, the display of the LG Chocolate BL40 is reported to feature a 345 x 800 pixel resolution, while boasting more than 3 inches in size.

The device should come to the market sporting a thin form factor, though the phone in itself is also stated to be rather narrow. In addition, according to Tweakers.net, we should also hear that the handset will feature a 5-megapixel photo snapper, as well as GPRS, UMTS and HSDPA when it comes to its supported connectivity.

Other possible specs of the new LG BL40 Chocolate Black Label Series 4 should also include MMS capabilities, a proprietary operating system from the phone maker, as well as the Obigo Q7.3 browser that comes with full HTML support. LG already promised that more details on the device would emerge to the Web, so stay tuned to learn more on this.

I have had this phone for 9 months. The screen cracked the first day, but everything worked so no big deal. I checked and broken screens are not covered by warenty, even if they break on day one. About three months ago the headphone jack stopped reconnecting the internal speaker and microphone when the headphones are unplugged. So the phone does not ring and if you phone out no one can hear you. It works with the headset plugged in. I sent it in to LG service asking them to just fix the headset jack under warrenty, and they came back that they would not fix the headphone jack unless I replaced the screen, because I had obviously abused the phone. $159 to replace screen. I said nojust send it back. A month later I got the phone back. But still can't receive calls and can only phone out with headset. Well only a year left on that plan. Telus, the plan provider was no help either. The screens are actually good because they do not scratch, but because they are so hard they are very brittle. I had been told that and though I was being careful but it broke anyway. I actually like th ephone but the service sucks.
