It seems like IPS is becoming a little more popular

LG Display has just announced two new additions to the company’s line of LED computer monitors, on its official website. These two are called LG IPS224V and IPS234V-PN.

It’s clear where the IPS part of the name is coming from and the rest of the product name tells us the diagonal size of the display. So LG IPS224V-PN is 21.5 inches, and IPS234V-PN is a 23 inch model.

These are LED-backlit monitors that sport the standard FullHD resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The response time is a modest 5 ms and the real contrast ratio is claimed to be 1000:1.

Brightness stands at a mediocre 250 cd / sqm while the  viewing angles are the usual 178 degrees vertically and just the same horizontally.

Both monitors come with HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub connectors and are priced at 250 USD and 275 USD. That’s about 200 EUR and 225 EUR respectively.

Too bad absolutely no manufacturer clearly states anywhere in their specifications if the products are top-LED, bottom-LED, edge-LED or Full-LED.
