4K displays don't really reach 4,000 pixels on the X axis. Instead, they come in 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, because true 4K2K quality implies a rare aspect ratio of 1.9:1.

This AR could become the star of CES 2014 though (Consumer Electronics Show), if LG has its way.

We've already seen the UM95 line of UltraWide monitors, with resolutions of 3440 x 1440 pixels.

Now, we can check out the 31MU95, a 31-inch LCD with a native resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels (hence the 1.9:1 aspect ratio).

LG has also implemented hardware-based color calibration, which makes the LCD good for design, film and other “creative industries” as it called them. The IPS panel also ensures very wide viewing angles.

Sadly, LG did not provide a price for the 31MU95 4K2K monitor. Given the presence of Thunderbolt 2.0 though (not specifically stated in the release, but more than likely), it will be a bit higher than if it had only HDMI and DisplayPort.
