If you are getting ready to acquire a new Intel Centrino 2-based notebook and you haven't yet decided which manufacturer to go with, then you might want to check out what LG has announced it has to offer. Apparently, the Korean manufacturer too has jumped on the Intel Centrino 2 bandwagon, by releasing its own notebook, simply dubbed R510.

The new notebook is pretty much a standard implementation of Intel's latest mobile platform, offering support for the latest mobile CPUs. So, as far as technical specifications go, the notebook is a rather standard build, offering the graphics performance of a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS graphics card and up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. Where storage capacity is concerned, the R510 can provide its users with as much as 320GB on a single 2.5-inch 5400 RPM SATA hard drive. It also comes with WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as with Gigabit Ethernet for the network connection.

The notebook will be offered with a Windows Vista Home Premium operating system and will packed with a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery, which will take the notebook's total weight up to 2.76 Kg. However, one of the most interesting features of this brand new notebook is its 15.4-inch LCD display.

With a resolution of 1680 by 1050, the R510 has been designed to offer a denser pixel format than the 15-inch MacBook Pro (1440 by 900). The 15.4-inch display is built with a LED backlight technology, which means that the notebook is more environmentally friendly. It also means that it consumes less energy and, because it is based on Centrino 2, the 6-cell battery should provide its users with a higher working autonomy.

When the R510 notebook becomes available in stores is yet uncertain but, since so far we've had no reports of delayed Centrino 2 processors, it's very likely that interested users should have the chance to purchase the new notebook - and very soon at that.
