LG Electronics has just announced that its A530 notebook has become the first 3D-capable laptop to receive a flicker-free certification from a recognized authority in this field, namely TUV Rheinland.

TUV Rheinland is a global provider of technical, safety and certification services which was founded in 1872 and has its headquarters in Cologne, Germany.

“Recognition from TÜV Rheinland is especially welcome given the organization’s focus on quality and safety,” said J.J. Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics PC Business Unit.

“Official certifications from leading third party authorities only help to confirm our belief that LG’s 3D technology is second to none,” concluded the company's rep.

The LG A530 notebook was introduced in Korea two months ago and it uses the company's proprietary Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) screen with Full HD 1920x1080 resolution that is paired with polarized glasses.

According to LG, this technology allows its screens to deliver significantly brighter images than the the shutter glasses used by other companies building 3D displays.

Outside of the 15-inch 3D capable screen, the LG A530 notebook can be configured to feature various Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 Sandy Bridge processors which are paired together with an Nvidia GT 555M discrete graphics card.

The GPU is available both with 1GB and 2GB of video buffer and also supports Nvidia's Optimus graphics switching technology.

As far as storage is concerned, this is provided by a hard drive reaching up to 750GB in capacity, which is seconded by 4GB of Express cache.

The rest of the notebook's specifications list includes 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, a Blu-ray or Super Multi DVD drive, SRS sound, and a 3D HD webcam on select models.
