Given the fact that it brought some hot new 3D LED HDTVs and a 3D plasma display to CES 2011, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Korean company LG Electronics also unveiled on this occasion a very comprehensive Blu-ray player lineup, that includes quite a few 3D capable models and, much as in Sony's case, a portable Blu-ray player as well.

The new BD690 3D-capable Network Blu-ray Disc player with LG SmartTV and an integrated 250-gigabyte (GB) hard drive represents LG's new flagship model, especially since it also offers built-in Wi-Fi capability and DLNA (server and client) functionality.

Next in line comes the BD670 model, a Full HD 1080p 3D-enabled Network Blu-ray Player that also sports LG SmartTV and MusicID, built-in Wi-Fi capability and DLNA, but no built-in storage, followed by the BD650, which is only Wi-Fi ready and ditches the Music ID feature.

Now, moving on to the standard (non-3D) Blu-ray players from LG, we'll have to mention that they still offer plenty of attractive features, the BD640 offering Full HD 1080p Network Blu-ray Player features, connectivity to NetFlix, Vudu, CinemaNow and YouTube, and Wi-Fi capability (adaptor is included).

The BD630 delivers roughly the same features as the BD640, but lacks Wi-Fi support, while the BP650 is LG’s first portable Blu-ray Player.

“LG is committed to offering consumers easier access to more content-on-demand, which is reflected in our 2011 line of Blu-ray products with new content partners, advanced technology and unique design,” said Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, LG Electronics USA.

“As the pioneer in providing content-on-demand options for consumers, LG builds on this reputation by offering full product lines designed to help consumers transform their home entertainment experience into something better,” the company's rep added.

Unfortunately, much as in the case of most other LG products revealed at CES 2011, pricing and availability details have not yet been provided.
