LG Telecom have recently announced their CAN*U TV-enabled mobile phones, each coming with a special design by famous cartoonists and painters.

As you would expect with an Asian phone, the canU701D comes with several nice features including T-DMB mobile TV, a 2.6 inch screen, MP3 player, Bluetooth for connectivity, camera, memory card slot for memory expansion and mobile banking functionality.

Although not at all bad as features, the main point of attraction in these phones is the artwork on their cover that makes them be different from all the other feature packed phones available. The mobile phone was manufactured by Casio and the artwork featured on the case really is something special.

LG Telecom's CAN*U models coming with 10 different types of artwork were sold out two hours after they had been displayed at a purchase reservation event, while some of them, with a particular artist paintings were sold within 5 minutes.

But given that there were only 160 phones for sale, it might just not be so impressive for some people. The artwork on the phones is the creation of several artists including Yi, Seokju, Jung, Hyeonsuk, Heo, Youngman, and Han, Seungwon.

Mobile phones with different artwork are being sold on different days, ensuring that customers are able to buy a handset with their favorite artist's work on it. In the near future, mobile phones featuring other artists' work will be made available for purchase.

The CAN*U DMB is the 6th model out of the CAN U series and is scheduled for a March release, when it will become available for a price of approximately KRW 500, 000 ($535).
