Comes out in October

As we are approaching a very interesting autumn, extensive rumors of upcoming products keep surfacing, and the netbook market is certainly one of the topics that are most frequently approached. Recently, LG's X110 netbook is believed to provide its users with one significant feature that isn't that common in most Eee PCs and other netbooks. Apparently, the much talked about device will boast GPS navigation.

According to the German-based Notebookjournal, LG plans to add a different perspective to its netbooks. Its X110 portable system should come with a GPS navigation feature, one that isn't supported by any of its current competitors.

Unfortunately, as with any other unconfirmed piece of news, it is yet uncertain if LG's upcoming product is going for the high-end netbook market with a $784 price point or whether the X110 is meant to compete with the rest of the Intel Atom-powered netbooks in the mid-range market. If so, the $784 one will probably be the GPS-supporting model.

Another piece of news about the upcoming product indicates that LG will officially release its small-sized, portable computer system sometime in October. The X110 will be powered by the same Intel Atom processor as all of its other competitors and it will provide 2GB of RAM and a 120GB storage space. It will be designed to compete with all the other 9-inch netbooks, including ASUS' Eee PC 900, 901 and 904HD. It is yet uncertain if LG is going to provide a Linux version, as most rumors indicate that the netbook is going to feature a pre-installed Windows XP operating system.

The October release date appears to be a somewhat strange marketing decision, as by that time, a number of manufacturers will have already released their own netbooks. On the other hand, LG has one significant advantage, as it can fully use its connections with various telecom providers, offering a series of promotional packages and bundles.
