At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, we were able to see Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics showcasing its LG-GD910, the first watch-shaped handset to become commercially available. This device has been announced before, but the manufacturer only managed to come up with the working product at the mobile show.

The new LG-GD910 is expected to come to the European market this year, namely in the second quarter, and it will be added to the offering of mobile phone carrier Orange. For what it's worth, it seems that the operator will have exclusive rights to sell the device in Europe, and some say that the price of the device is expected to be a rather leveraged one. To be more precise, the LG-GD910 should hit the market at about 1,000 British Pounds, 1,144 Euros or about $1,500.

In addition, Orange is also expected to sell the device for half of the price with a 50BP monthly charge with a two-year contract. The speculation is that this high price might be the result of the exclusivity the operator has for selling the LG-GD910. Hopefully, it will cost a little less than that, but we'll see what price tag it will sport at launch.

On the other hand, it’s not only the shape of the phone that might explain the higher price, but also its functionality. As many of you might already know, the device is expected to feature 3G HSDPA connectivity, video call capabilities, as well as a 1.43-inch display capable of delivering a 128 x 160 pixel resolution and 260k colors.

The display of the LG watch phone comes with touchscreen capabilities, while the handset sports the LG intuitive Flash Interface, voice recognition, a VGA camera for video calls, MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, Text to Speech (TTS) features, as well as built-in speaker and organizer. The device is only 13.9mm thick.
