LG Electronics, a leading mobile phone solutions provider, will demonstrate the world’s first market-ready Touch Watch Phone and the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new LG-GD910 comes with 3G Video Telephony (VT) service and GSM Network capabilities, and was first announced at the Consumer Electronics Show about a month ago.

The new handset allows users to make video calls in a simply manner. The company unveiled a prototype of the device last year, but the final product sports a range of upgrades, which would include a full touchscreen interface, 3G capabilities and video calling. At the same time, the company also announced that the handset was available for purchase, being the first such device in the world to actually hit the market.

“Our new 3G Touch Watch Phone is stylish, sophisticated and the height of technology, but it’s also undeniably fun. How else can you reenact those scenes from your favorite sci-fi or spy movie?” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG is the first company to introduce a mobile phone with the wearable device technology. We will continue to develop category-creating products to form a new market, based on our technological leadership and design capability.”

The Mobile phone maker included materials and stylistic elements usually found in watches from top manufacturers, which gives the LG-GD910 a time piece-like look. The new device comes with a curved tempered glass face, as well as with a high-quality metal casing, feels comfortable while wearing it, and is only 13.9mm thick. It features both style and the latest technologies available, as it would be the first touch watch phone to include 7.2 Mbps 3G HSDPA compatibility for high-speed data transmission.

At the same time, the new LG Touch Watch Phone can send text messages, make phone calls, as well as keep accurate time. The phone comes with a 1.43-inch touchscreen and with LG’s intuitive Flash Interface, as well as with voice recognition, Text to Speech (TTS) features, MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth and a built-in speaker, along with a large phonebook and scheduler.

“This Watch Phone is the result of a great deal of research and development, something that is very important to us at LG. We will continue to invest in creating innovative new products and technologies like this and setting trends in the mobile phone industry,” Dr. Ahn said.

The new LG-GD910 Watch Phone will become available on the European market later this year at Orange.
