Skyworks Solutions has announced that LG is leveraging the Helios power transceiver, the SKY74400, across its line of GPRS-enabled Chocolate phones.

The SKY74400 power transceiver is a highly integrated GPRS device for quad-band applications that contain a direct conversation receiver and power amplifier with an integrated PA control function in a compact multi-chip module.

Skyworks Solutions that provides radio architectures to several of today's leading OEMs through its innovative and proprietary technology, has worked with LG before, previously announcing support for the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer's lineup of CDMA Chocolate handsets in April 2006.

"Skyworks is pleased to be extending its relationship with LG to now include GPRS radios for their highly popular Chocolate? family," said Brian M. Daly, Skyworks' vice president of marketing. "Given our capabilities across virtually all air interfaces, we are delighted that our integrated solutions enable LG and others to deliver feature-rich phones with sleek designs and innovative technology for today's demanding consumers."

The LG Chocolate is quite a popular mobile phone having won multiple design and customer satisfaction awards including the Germany iF Product Design Award in 2006 for innovation.

One of several mobile phones in the Chocolate line, the KG800 is by far the most popular coming with a touch sensitive keypad, an integrated MP3 player, built-in camera with flash and video recording capabilities and 128MB internal memory.

Since its release in early May 2006 its design proved to be so popular with consumers that, as a result, over six million such handsets have been sold so far around the world.
