LG showed its GD910 watch-phone to the world a while ago, and, although the handset was expected to come to the market sometime this summer, no exact details on the release were given until now. According to the latest news on the web, the new watch-phone will become available in the UK as soon as August.

The device is expected to become available on the airwaves of wireless carrier Orange, and, although the company hasn't announced anything regarding the price tag of the phone, it seems that those who would like to purchase the LG GD910 on a pay-as-you-go basis will have to pay somewhere around £1,000 (about $1,612).

The price tag seems rather steep, as some of the highest-end handsets available on the market at the moment can be acquired for less, though things might turn real in the end. According to T3, Orange has “at least three new market-leading devices to be unveiled by the end of the year,” and it would come as a surprise if the price for the watch phone was lowered.

As for the specifications of the device, we should mention the 1.43-inch touchscreen display, as well as the video calling capabilities, and speakerphone, not to mention HSDPA connectivity for high-speed Internet browsing, or the pairing of the device with a Bluetooth headset.

The watch phone is the must-have gadget of 2009. It's handcrafted, exclusively limited, and will turn heads on the high street,” the CEO of Orange UK, Tom Alexander, stated. In addition, he also said that the GD910 watch-phone was capable of delivering “a 21st-century experience to our 21st century customers.”

It remains to be seen what price the phone will actually sport when available in the UK via Orange, so stay tuned to learn more details as soon as they surface. Hopefully, some pieces of information regarding the availability of the LG GD910 over the ocean will also emerge.
