LFTP, a sophisticated file transfer program with a command-line interface that supports FTP, HTTP, FISH, SFTP, HTTPS, and FTPS protocols, has reached version 4.5.0.

Every operation made with LFTP is reliable, which means that, if any non-fatal error occurs, the operation is retried automatically.

This latest version of LFTP is quite a big one and the developers have implemented a large number of changes and improvements, even if the previous release was made just a couple of weeks ago.

According to the changelog, the CPU usage for 10Gb/s transfers has been optimized by using better data structures and algorithms, the new open option --env-password has been added in order to take the password from the LFTP_PASSWORD environment variable, the “exit parent” subcommand is now available, and the new setting xfer:max-log-size has been added to limit the transfer log size.

Also, the last disconnect cause is now displayed for a few seconds in the session status, the mirror status has been improved and it's now able to display real-time aggregated byte count and rate options, torrent metadata is now saved on disk, and the torrent DHT search has been improved.

A complete list of changes and improvements can be found in the official announcement. You can download LFTP 4.5.0 right now from Softpedia.
