The developers of LEGO Universe have announced that, after the big Ninja theme update, they are moving their sights to time travel and will allow gamers to gather up in groups of four in order to tackle an all-new challenge that will see them move to the past to battle the chaotic forces of the maelstrom and save Nimbus Stations.

The new zone seems to take some cues from last stand modes like those seen in Gears of War 2 and in Dawn of War II, but with a theme designed to make them appealing to more casual gamers.

Players must first form a group of four, with abilities that complement each other, and then comb Nimbus Stations in order to find Wenn Wuzzit (nice play on words there) who is an member of the Venture League and has a device which allows anyone interested to go back in time.

Once the time travel is complete, gamers will have to resist thirty waves of ever more powerful enemies and bosses, the Four Riders of the Maelstrom, in order to save Nimbus Station and give the present of LEGO Universe a future.

The new mission will be available in LEGO Universe on February 23 and a trailer for the new mission is available from Softpedia.

The developers at NetDevil, who are in charge of the support for LEGO Universe are not only delivering more story-based missions, designed to allow gamers to band together to achieve an objective.

They are also working on more missions that are focused on just using LEGO block to build things and there are 12 all-new achievements for all those who are interested in creating innovative stuff in their Property Worlds.

LEGO Universe was launched late in October of last year and seems to be one MMO that has found a stable audience, with both the LEGO Group and the development team promising more content launches all through 2011 to keep the player base satisfied.
