The LEGO Group has laid out the plans it has for its MMO LEGO Universe video game going into 2011, suggesting that regular content updates will continue to arrive while the developers are also preparing new game mechanics, more environments and more items that gamers can use in their in-game quests.

The team behind the LEGO Universe Online MMO has said that no less than 86,000 personal properties loaded with player-made content have gone through the moderation process, which is in place to make sure that the game is children friendly, and are now available for exploration.

The content includes the usual motives seen both in gaming and in LEGO building, with gamers creating forts, castles, space stations, robots and monumental sports stadiums.

The LEGO Group says that it has plans for all next year, designed to make sure that there are always new ways for gamers to express their creativity using the virtual bricks and the concepts of the world they are inhabiting.

The new content will include new pet features, new faction clothes, more skills, better weapons and new achievements.

The storyline of the game will also be pushed forward, with players able to take part in events that will reshape their world.

The developers are also suggesting that other important intellectual properties might be acquired, allowing the team to add new and exciting environments to LEGO Universe, although its not clear what those might be.

Mark William Hansen, who is the senior director at the LEGO Group for LEGO Universe, has stated, “Since LEGO Universe is a massively-multiplayer online game, players are encouraged to build, battle and explore together with friends and family.”

He added, “Only a few weeks after launch, LEGO Universe, boasts an impressively high NPS score - the rating that measures how likely users are to recommend the game to someone else - above 70% among the core 8-12-year-old audience, which is world class!”
