Lego Rock Band is a music video game developed by Harmonix, the studio responsible for titles like the original Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and uses the famous Lego toys and characters to depict actual bands.
In order to create the new title, Harmonix partnered up with Traveller's Tales, the studio behind other highly successful LEGO-themed games including LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones and LEGO Batman.
LEGO Rock Band was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MTV Games, and appeared for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii consoles.
The Nintendo DS version was also developed by Backbone Entertainment.
LEGO Rock Band uses almost the same mechanics as the full pledged Rock Band games, and offers four players the chance to play four different instruments, including the lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals.
As you can imagine, LEGO brick building has also been incorporated into the mechanics of the game, and allow players to customize their own characters and the assistants of the band.
LEGO Rock Band has a 45-song soundtrack, carefully selected to create a great experience for the whole family, so don't expect any hard rock or songs with dirty lyrics.
As a special treat to those who already bought previous Rock Band games, Harmonix allowed songs from Lego Rock Band to be exported into other titles from withing the franchise.
Even though it was hyped by Warner Bros., Lego Rock Band was met with moderate reviews that applauded the great combination between Rock Band and LEGO gameplay elements.
The soundtrack and a few glitches were the only bad things reported by reviewers.
