Video game developer TT Games and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announce that they are working together on The LEGO Movie Video Game, which is set to launch next year during the same period as the film on which it is based.

The game will be offered on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Nintendo Wii U, the PC and current-gen consoles.

Versions for the 3DS and the Vita handhelds are also being planned.

The story will be inspired by that of the movie and will see players become Emmet, a LEGO figure who must work with others to stop an evil block tyrant.

Tom Stone, a managing director at TT Games, states, "Players will be taking on the ultimate mission to save the LEGO world and use their virtual building prowess to build unimaginable sets and creations."
