Developer Traveler's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. have offered more information on the LEGO Lord of the Rings: The Video Game, which will allow gamers to explore the lands of Middle-Earth using character made from LEGO bricks.

The characters that players will be able to meet and control include familiar faces like Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin and many more.

As players engage more with LEGO Lord of the Rings they will be able to unlock a cast of more than 80 playable characters.

The list of enemies ranges from the normal orcs, the more fearsome Uruk-hai, the fiery Balrog that Gandalf defeated on his own and even the Witch-King, the right hand man of Sauron.

The items that players will be able to collect include all the weapons seen in the movies and the books and there’s a new Blacksmight Shop where mithril can be used to combine items or to create entirely new ones.

Gamers will also be able to put the Ring of Power on the LEGO fingers of the characters they control in order to enter the world of the Rigwraits and battle them.

Some of the cast of the Lord of the Rings movie has also been recruited for voice work and all the important plot points of the story will be offered via LEGO minifigure acting.

The entire world will be open world, meaning that gamers can choose what areas they want to explore and what enemies they plan to battle.

LEGO Lord of the Rings will have a cooperative structure and it will support drop-in and drop-out mechanics.

LEGO Lord of the Rings: The Video Game will be launched on the Windows powered PC, the Nintendo Wii, the 3DS and the older DS, the PlayStation Vita, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on October 30.
