Warner Bros. and TT Games have confirmed that LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is coming this year, bringing not just new adventures for The Dark Knight, but also new characters like Superman, Wonder Woman or the Green Lantern.

LEGO Batman was a great success for the two aforementioned companies, managing to sell well over 11 million copies since its release, so you know that both Warner and TT Games want its sequel to be even more successful.

As such, the companies have confirmed LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, which brings some new companions for Batman and his sidekick, Robin, including heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, or the Green Lantern.

The new characters will need to team up and work together if they hope to defeat some of the new villains in this game, like The Joker or Lex Luthor.

“LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes builds upon the action and cooperative gameplay experience established in our best-selling LEGO video game to date, LEGO Batman: The Videogame,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We’re offering fans a rich and expansive Gotham City environment filled with cool characters, great customization options and plenty of surprises that families, young gamers and DC Universe fans can enjoy together.”

Throughout the game’s adventures, players can explore new areas of Gotham City, thanks to an array of new vehicles like the Batmobile or Batwing, while wielding new gadgets and suits, including Robin’s Hazard Cannon or Batman’s Power Suit. When using other superheroes, players will also have a chance to experience their powers, from flight to heat vision or super-breath.

Like any good LEGO game, a series of new toys, called Lego Super Heroes: DC Universe, is already available.

The actual LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes game will be out in summer for a variety of platforms, including the PC, PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii, not to mention the DS, 3DS, or PlayStation Vita.
