Demand in China was the chief reason for this development

Unlike PCs, television sets have actually been doing well from a marketing standpoint, managing to stay on top of their game, although not making any big leaps, sales-wise.

One would think that with all the wonders presented at various trade shows, there would be higher interest and willingness to spend money on them.

Alas, the technologies shown this year are too expensive for the common man, or won't really reach their stride until 2014.

Thus, there wasn't much in terms of novelty to affect general LCD TV sales, so we can take the rise of 3.44% as a sign that people watch TV a bit more than they used to.

The total shipment figure was of 90.2 million in the first half of 2013. 18.5 million of those were shipped by Samsung, 13.25 came from LG, 7.4 million came from China-based TCL, while 5.05 were Skyworth displays.

Interestingly, increased sizes and resolutions brought with them slight price increases in general, which means higher profits than in previous years.
