Another report regarding the LCD TV market has been made public by WitsView Technology, one which contradicts the information delivered in the previous study. Looks like the demand for the LCD TVs will not dramatically drop in September, as the analysts say that it will rise. Moreover, also the prices, especially for the 17-inch LCD panels will increase by 19 % in the second half of the year to $123 from $102 in July.
The research also shows that the retail costs for the 17-inch LCD panels rose 5.8 % in the first half of August, compared to the previous two weeks, and another 2.7 % in the second half of the month, informed IDG News Service.
However, the price drop for the widescreens (20.1 inch to 42 inch sizes) has been nearly brought to an end.
"Users may have become accustomed to rapid price declines such as the ones the market has seen most of this year. Between April and June, for example, the price of large-sized LCD panels used in LCD TVs fell by over a fourth, compared to the first three months of the year," said WitsView cited by IDG News Service.
It is strange that the same research company changes its mind in just one week, and puts an end to its previous 15% drop in demand for the LCD TVs. If you remember, the same WitsView Technology said last week that : "As a result, supply for 32-inch panels will run short of demand by around 300,000 units, with the most serious tightness occurring in September and October, the makers said. Tight supply will also occur in the 26- and 27-inch segments and also for the 40-inch-and-larger segments."
Moreover, Hsiung Hui, executive vice president of AU Optronics (AUO), stated at a recent investors' conference that in the upcoming quarter we might see a 10 % drop in demand for the 32- and 37-inch panels, and a 5% price cut for the 26-inch panels.
