Rockstar Games, the developer of L.A. Noire, has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Verse Records aimed at releasing the Official Soundtrack and the Remixed EP for the video game, which will reflect the unique atmosphere of the title while also delivering a number of very modern and easy-to-listen-to songs.

The Remixed album is made up of classic songs from the historic era during which L.A. Noire takes place with a number of modern DJs, mixers and producers, like Dave Sitek, DJ Premier and Truth & Soul, working to update all of them and make them hits with modern music lovers.

The developer says, “The music of L.A. Noire plays a critical role in the game, as musical cues help notify players where additional clues can be found, or when a crime scene has been completely scoured for evidence. Players will also hear over 32 classic jazz tracks through the world in L.A. Noire, including such greats as Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Thelonious Monk.”

The Official Soundtrack of L.A. Noire has been created by Andrew Hale, who is best known for working on the music for both The Getaway and for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and has been inspired by the complex orchestral backgrounds which supported the action in the movies of the 40's.

Additional work on the soundtrack was contributed by Stephen Coates, Claudia Bruken and Woody Jackson, who has worked on the soundtrack of another Rockstar made game, Red Dead Redemption.

Both the Remixed album and the Official Soundtrack will be available for all music and video game lovers on May 17 through iTunes.
