Rockstar has just announced that its most recent L.A. Noire game has just received the first pieces of downloadable content, in the form of new cases, detective suits and the very special Rockstar Pass, which remained a mystery up until now.

L.A. Noire was released for a couple of weeks now, impressing many reviewers and gamers alike with its sharp graphics, intense gameplay and emphasis on crime solving, not just creating crimes and running amok in an open world sandbox.

Now, Rockstar has started slowly releasing the special cases and various items that were available as pre-orders bonuses at various retailers from all around the world.

Besides the new cases, detective suits or weapons, the company also detailed the mysterious Rockstar Pass, which was available for download since the game was released.

While many believed that this might be some sort of online pass, similar to how Electronic Arts or THQ are doing with its titles, the Rockstar Pass is completely different. Instead of paying for each DLC as it is released, the Rockstar Pass is essentially a new way of pre-ordering them.

"Starting today in North America and Europe, players can purchase the L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass, a new way to pre-order DLC, which gives players access to all seven paid DLC," the company revealed in a statement. "The Rockstar Pass is available for a limited-time price of $10.00 (PlayStation Network) / 800 Microsoft Points (Xbox LIVE)—a 50% discount compared to purchasing the DLC content individually."

"Once purchased, the Rockstar Pass enables gamers to download all the announced DLC for free as it becomes available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE, which totals four unique cases, two detective suits and a collectible challenge. Xbox 360 Achievements and PlayStation Trophies will be available in each of the four cases."
