Marks its return to the smartphone market

Kyocera Communications Inc., the provider of wireless devices under the Kyocera and Sanyo brands, announced today the launch of its first mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system, the Kyocera Zio M6000. The new handset, announced at the CTIA Wireless 2010 trade show in Las Vegas, sports an elegant design, as well as a highly-intuitive user interface, and is set to become available for purchase during the second quarter of the ongoing year.

The specifications list of the new Kyocera Zio M6000 includes CDMA2000 1xEV-DO rev. A connectivity, as well as support for Wi-Fi networks, a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA resolution, and which the company says is motion-enhanced. The new device can support a fully customizable mobile multimedia experience, as it comes with media player and full HTML web browser, and also delivers enhanced social networking connectivity through widgets and apps like Facebook, Twitter, Open Table and more, available for download from the Android Market.

At the same time, the company notes that the new device comes with a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, support for Google Maps, 256MB of user-available internal memory, coupled with a microSD memory card with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, not to mention that it also includes ambient light sensor and accelerometer.

Among the other specs of the new phone, we can count a virtual QWERTY keypad, stereo Bluetooth, speakerphone, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, USB 2.0 connectivity, and support for audio formats like AAC, AAC+, eAAC and MP3, or video formats like H263, H264 and MPEG4. The handset includes a battery that can offer up to 6 hours of talk time or up to 18 days of standby time, and measures 116 x 58.6 x 12.2 mm.
