Some problems appeared but software updates should take care of them

Kyobo's e-reader could have probably done with a lot fewer application crashes and problems with loading DRM-protected books, even after authorizing, but the device may still succeed in making a mark.

The Kyobo Reader is the first of its kind to use a Mirasol display, a screen which imitates butterfly iridescence and absorbs ambient light.

In other words, due to minimum need for backlighting, this is a color e-reader with none of the battery life disadvantages that an LCD would have brought.

Alas, the review posted by The Digital Reader said there were rather many problems during their tests.

Apps didn't load that fast, battery life was rather short and YouTube playback was slow, one might even say stiff.

On the bright side, book page turns were faster than on Amazon's Kindle Touch.

In other words, the item handles the e-reading aspect well enough (barring the aforementioned crashes) but doesn't impress as much as it could on the multimedia side.

Hopefully firmware updates will fix all these pesky problems.
