Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian - Jenner clan, the most successful family in reality television right now, has been getting lots of media attention over the past year for her seemingly unnatural and surprisingly large pout.

She denies having had any plastic surgery (fillers don’t count as “going under the knife,” for the record), but even her loyal fans have finally understood that the fuller set of lips she shows off on social media is not the result of artfully applied makeup.

So the #KylieJennerChallenge was born and took over social media at the beginning of this week. It has now turned into #KylieJennerChallengeGoneWrong, showing the gruesome results of the so-called “challenge.”

The Kylie Jenner “challenge”

This type of “challenges” aren’t new on the Internet: it seems that people are willing to do the stupidest and occasionally quite harmful things, just to have something to post under a hashtag and get their shot at the proverbial 15 minutes of fame.

This time, the “challenge” consisted of an attempt at getting the reality star’s full lips by applying suction on the lips for anywhere between 10 to 60 seconds, by means of a shot glass, a cap or even a plastic bottle.

The suction creates swelling and thus bigger lips. However, the swelling doesn’t last more than a couple hours, which is probably what the teens that tried the challenge were counting on. They wanted to get full lips, grab a photo or a video of their accomplishment and then return to their normal selves.

Teens end up in hospital with injuries

However, applying severe suction on the lips can lead to more than just swelling: it can also cause cuts and bruising, and chaffing and bleeding.

Many of those who tried the “challenge” can now vouch for that: it is the dumbest thing they could ever do. It also hurt a lot and left them with visible injuries, and even put some of them in the hospital.

They are now warning other teens against taking the “challenge,” posting the gruesome results of their own attempts under the #KylieJennerChallengeGoneWrong hashtag. You can see some of them below, but *please be warned that discretion is recommended, as some of the material included is graphic in nature.

The bottom line of this is: if you want fuller lips or want to feel included and as such are thinking of doing the Kylie Kenner challenge, don’t. This is harmful and risky, and you might end up paying a price for it that is simply not worth it.

Even if you do get fuller lips and not experience any of the downsides these guys below experienced, it will still not be worth it because it’s temporary. Just don’t do it.
