Girls try to replicate her look to hilariously bad results

Whenever she’s asked if she’s had some work done on her face, particularly on her lips, which seem several times larger than they did one year ago, 17-year-old reality star Kylie Jenner insists that the illusion is created through the crafty application of makeup.

She also insists that she never had plastic surgery or other, less-invasive treatments like Botox or fillers, but her answer isn’t enough to convince those who watched her growing up before their eyes. Her lips don’t just appear bigger, they are actually so.

So the #KylieJennerChallenge was born this weekend, taking over social media and involving girls from all over the world, desperate to get more volume in their lips without going under the knife or getting stuff injected into them.

No fillers, just suction

As it turns out, there is a method to get that without paying money you don’t have and having to suffer considerable discomfort for longer stretches. Granted, the results are temporary and you might still suffer for it, but it can be done: and all you have to do is create suction with a glass or a small jar for up to 5 minutes.

Kylie never said that this was the method she was using to get her oversized lips and no one seems to know how people taking this “challenge” got it into their heads. The bottom line is that they’re doing it and posting the results online - and they’re not exactly nice.

For starters, applying this kind of suction on your lips doesn’t just add volume, it can actually lead to swelling so bad that it might make it difficult to speak. Secondly, bruising or chaffing might occur, so besides getting ridiculously swollen lips, you’ll also be getting some extra coloring that you do not want.

In other words, you’re better off not doing it because you will probably not like the results. They’re grotesque and not worth the trouble, especially for a stupid beauty fad. You can get fuller lips by doing your makeup differently, by over-lining and filling in.

Kylie Jenner’s lips and Internet dominance

This isn’t the first time that Kylie Jenner’s styling leads to an online frenzy like this one. When she first started showing off fuller lips, which coincided with the moment plastic surgery rumors emerged, everyone was obsessed with makeup tutorials to achieve this new look.

Beauty editors and Pinterest users were busy coming up with new way to show girls at home how to line their lips and apply their lipstick so as to create the impression of a more sizeable pout.

Kylie might be only 17 and yes, she’s “only” a reality star, but she and her lips have been dominating the Internet for over a year. Chances are she won’t be too proud of this new “challenge” though. Here’s why:
