Kylie Minogue's mother has recently flown to Paris, to be close to her daughter while she's continuing to battle the breast cancer.
On May 17, 2005, it was reported that Minogue had been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and would receive medical treatment in Melbourne. The remainder of her Showgirl, The Greatest Hits world tour was postponed and she withdrew from the Glastonbury Festival.
Minogue underwent surgery on May 21. Friends such as Olivia Newton-John, herself a survivor of breast cancer, urged the media and fans to respect Minogue's privacy.
However, it was only after it was announced the success of the surgery that the intense scrutiny of the situation began to diminish. After surgery, Minogue has been undergoing chemotherapy at the Institute Gustave-Roussy in Paris, one of the world's leading cancer treatment centers.
Carol Minogue has traveled from Melbourne to Paris, to be by her daughter's side.
A friend of the singer told the Daily Mail: "At this time, I think any woman in the world would want their mum with them, and likewise there is nowhere her mum would rather be - Kylie and her mother are incredibly close."
Kylie's fiancé, Olivier Martines, has also been supportive to her.
As the source added, "Olivier has been tremendously supportive. He has cancelled every project that he can and is spending so much time with Kylie, keeping her spirits up - but obviously she wants her family around her as well.
The plan is for Kylie and Olivier to go back to Australia to be with her family by Christmas at the latest."
