Danii Minogue, Kylie Minogue's little sister, revealed the singer is handling "gracefully" her breast cancer treatment.
On May 17, 2005, it was reported that Minogue had been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and would receive medical treatment in Melbourne. The remainder of her Showgirl, The Greatest Hits world tour was postponed and she withdrew from the Glastonbury Festival.
Minogue underwent surgery on May 21. Friends such as Olivia Newton-John, herself a survivor of breast cancer, urged the media and fans to respect Minogue's privacy.
However, it was only after it was announced the success of the surgery that the intense scrutiny of the situation began to diminish.
After surgery, Minogue had commenced radiotherapy as part of her treatment regime. On British morning TV show GMTV, Danii confessed that Kylie and her family had some "tough time", but now, the singer is doing "really good".
Danii explained: "It's quite a stressful treatment. She is handling it very gracefully.
She is very well aware of the floods of love coming in for her and it's very helpful and supportive."
Asked if Kylie went to Australia after her treatment in France, Danii answered: "Honoring her privacy, I wouldn't want to go into any details of anything. Obviously, she is getting the best treatment and wishes everyone else can have the same."
