We've all missed Kylie - but never fear. The minuscule Australian pop diva is back with a vengeance and to make us all feel she's here to stay, she gave a nice, long, hot interview to UK's Glamour magazine. In it, she talks about how being diagnosed with cancer changed her career and about the changes that took place in her private and professional life.
The first thing she admits is that she feared that her career would be damaged when her breast cancer was diagnosed in 2005. "I want to keep working on finding perfect harmony within my life and my work," she says. "And a family, yeah, that's still something I would love to happen. It has become very complicated but we'll see. Contrary to reports in the papers, though, I am not having all these weird treatments". And while she admits that getting married is still a very far away project, Kylie is still pretty much optimistic. "We'll see" she says. "I honestly don't have a feeling one way or the other if I will walk down the aisle".
Kylie has had a four-year romance with French actor Olivier Martinez, but it all ended this year, reportedly because Martinez stepped out and was linked with an Israeli model, Sarai Givati and with Penelope Cruz. And while both women denied it, the fact remains that Kylie and Martinez are not an item anymore, despite recent rumors that claimed the two were seeking reconciliation. "I don't like confrontation" Kylie explains. "You can be civil and friendly but to have a proper friendship, you need to allow a certain amount of time to pass". So whatever Martinez did, it seems that the singer is not prepared to be his best buddy just yet.
She also says her battle with cancer changed her immensely. "What I believed before my illness has only been enhanced since, and that's that beauty comes from within. But I don't see myself the way other people see me. When you are stripped of everything and you have to grow your eyelashes back, grow your hair back, it's just astonishing. It is hard to express what I have learned from that, but a deep physiological and emotional shift has happened".
She said she even thought that when it was revealed she had cancer, Coty (the company launching her perfume) might cancel her contract. "I really thought I might be dropped. And they said, 'We're here and we're not going anywhere'." But Kylie is back - promoting a new upcoming album and reminding us all that she is still a diva at heart, and a very glamorous one, for all that. Like it or not, she's here to stay, and I have a feeling that in the end, we're the lucky ones.
