There is a fine line between being sensual and going overboard, and she’s crossed it

The other day, Kylie Minogue has released a brand new music video, for the single “Sexercise,” which is lifted off her latest album “Kiss Me Once,” and she’s already harshly criticized online – by many of her own fans, no less – for making it so raunchy that it’s absolutely a waste of time to watch.

The song’s name is self-explanatory and, for the video, Kylie and her people came up with an idea to combine the two activities in one package that would bypass Internet rules regarding adult content. So, while it’s raunchy, it’s mostly suggestively so.

Still, it’s pretty bad, many of her fans are saying. If Kylie is reading Twitter or the comments board on YouTube, to name just a couple, she should consider going into a different direction for her next video.

Speaking of which, you will find it in full on YouTube, but *please note that certain discretion is recommended because of imagery that might offend.

I am no prude and I applaud any female artist out there who wants to express herself freely in whatever way she feels comfortable with, but this is how I see this release (feel free to tell I’m wrong whenever you feel like): this is a mediocre song and putting out a risqué video for it is Kylie’s way of getting people to pay attention to it.

She’s still itching to really break on the US market, a feat she’s been trying to accomplish for years and she’s ripping a page out of Miley Cyrus’ book. However, unlike Miley, fans expected a bit more of Kylie because they know she can do better than this. The fact that she’s been in the industry for 2 decades speaks volumes for that.

What I’m saying is that, if Kylie wanted to release a sensual video, she could have done that without having a camera up her backside and on her breasts every other scene. While we’re at it, she could have also done with less Autotune. Sometimes, more is just more.
