Embrace your look don’t be afraid to experiment with it

17-year-old reality star and role model for millions of teens from all over the world Kylie Jenner is finally speaking out on the gruesome DYI beauty fad known as the #KylieJennerChallenge that’s taken over social media.

The hashtag started trending earlier this week and has now made room for a new one, #KylieJennerChallengeGoneWrong, which includes photos and testimonials on why no one should take this stupid and very dangerous “challenge.”

Kylie is breaking her silence on Twitter, where both hashtags are still getting plenty of attention.

Kylie Jenner distances herself from the “challenge”

Taking the Kylie Jenner Challenge implies putting a shot glass, cap or even plastic bottle over the lips, and creating suction by breathing in all the air. After about 30 seconds, the lips will become swollen and thus bear more resemblance to Jenner’s current pout - which is considerably larger than one year ago and of which she maintains is the result of artfully applied makeup.

The swelling is only temporary and can come accompanied by a string of other problems, like bleeding, bruising and loss of feeling. Many teens have already ended up in the hospital because of the challenge, and even more have reported massive bruising and even the inability to eat for hours afterwards.

Most of those who took the “challenge” and posted the results online did it thinking they would get lips like Kylie's, but she clearly wants nothing to have with it.

In 2 tweets, she distances herself from it, saying it’s not her intention to tell or encourage people to look a certain way, even if she does. What she wants to do is encourage her fans to stay true to themselves, but also to not be afraid to experiment with their looks.

She’s renouncing all responsibility for this new fad and its gruesome effects, but she’s not doing it at her own expense.

No plastic surgery, just makeup

This is what Kylie has been saying since talk about her plumper lips started. In less than a year, she went from a thin-lipped girl to a pouty teen who couldn’t stop showing off on social media; naturally, people began noticing her and the apparent change.

However, she insists that the change hasn’t been achieved through plastic surgery. She swears she hasn’t gone under the knife and she’s not lying: fillers don’t count as plastic surgery, so if she had them, she’s telling the truth.

Kylie also maintains that her fuller pout is achieved through makeup, by overlining and filling in with lipstick. Apparently, not even her fans are buying it if they’ve started doing this stupid #KylieJennerChallenge.
