Star urges people to “calm down,” stop jumping the gun

As if Kylie Jenner didn’t get enough negative media attention for dating a guy who’s 8 years her senior when she’s not even of legal age (she’s 17), over the weekend, she came under serious fire for a series of shots that were considered “blackface.”

You can find the photos in the gallery below: they’re part of a new spread Kylie has done, and one of them was posted to Instagram with the caption, “What I wish I looked like all the time.”

Kylie Jenner offends, tries to downplay the scandal

Aside from the fact that her skin is sparkling in the photos, it also seems to be black. So many assumed that this was a glamorized version of blackface, but a blackface nonetheless. Considering Kylie wears gold grills, pretends to be gansta and signs on IG under the moniker Kylizzle, even some of her fans were convinced that she was guilty of the offense of doing blackface.

She deleted the first photo with the caption mentioned above, but uploaded 2 more from the shoot, with what could be considered an explanation. Apparently, where people see blackface, there’s nothing more than fashion and artistic expression, so it would be best for everyone involved if they didn’t jump the gun.

“This is a black light and neon lights,” she wrote. “People lets all calm down.”

Her tweets on the topic are included below, at the end of this post. Clearly, Kylie is convinced that she did nothing wrong, so those who are still offended at her idea of blackface should probably try and not see racism wherever they look.

Kylie Jenner, the youngest and most controversial member of the family

If you thought Kim Kardashian was controversial for the way she got her start in the industry years ago, you probably don’t know much of Kylie.

She’s now 17, but she’s already believed to have had extensive surgical work, including on her backside, breasts and face. Rumors that she’s slowly transforming herself into Kim through plastic surgery have been around for over a year, so if true, that would mean she started getting work done when she was still 16.

Perhaps just as worse is the fact that, at about the same time, she started dating rapper Tyga, who, at the time, was involved with the mother of his child, Blac Chyna. Tyga has pretty much confirmed reports of a romantic involvement in a series of interviews from 2015, which means he could be brought up on charges of statutory rape.

He probably won’t, but he could be.
