The first maintenance release of Kwort Linux 4, an open source operating system based on the CRUX distribution and designed to be clean, robust, and extendable, has been officially announced by its creator and maintainer, David Cortarello.

Kwort Linux 4.1 is here to bring an updated kernel, new versions of existing packages, as well as various other improvements, bug fixes, and security patches, all in order to keep the distro stable and reliable.

According to the very short changelog, Kwort Linux 4.1 is powered by Linux kernel 3.13.7, updates the Mozilla Firefox web browser to version 30.0 and Chromium to version 34.0.1847.132, and updates the LibreOffice office suite to version 4.2.2.

“Kwort 4.1 is out! This new version is fast, stable, and simple as always. Everything has been built from scratch in a clean way. [...] As usual our system remains light and clean as Kwort users like it,” David Cortarello said on the project's homepage.

As mentioned, Kwort Linux 4.1 is a maintenance release, which means that if you have an up-to-date Kwort Linux 4 installation, you don’t have to download this version and reinstall the system.

Those of you who are new to Kwort and want to install it can download Kwort Linux 4.1 right now from Softpedia. Please note that the distribution can only be installed, as there’s no Live CD.
