The Maine State Lottery is set to debut their new scratch tickets, the Kwikies, a name which has brought them nothing but trouble so far.

The Bangor Daily News quotes Maine Bureau Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations director Gerry Reid as he explains how they have chosen this name out of 50 or 60 choices, never thinking it sounds one bit bawdy or risqué.

"It’s quick, easy and fun," he describes, which is exactly what everyone else is thinking when they hear the word "Kwikie."

"[Customers have] come in and joked around with me and say, 'Can I get a Kwikie?'" a 19-year-old shop assistant at Fairfield's Village Market recalls.

Female customers are just as displeased when they are asked the same question, and attendants prefer to refer to the Kwikies simply as scratch tickets.
