Sony is not impressed by its competition from Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Not at all.
After
Sony America’s President, Kaz Hirai, called Microsoft’s Xbox 360 as Xbox 1.5 at E3, Ken Kutaragi, an Engineer for Sony Entertainment and one of the developers of the PlayStation line of products, attacked Microsoft’s Xbox 360 by labeling it also as Xbox 1.5.
Kutaragi said that the Xbox 360 extends the product line as a general-purpose computer, while Sony has approached the Playstation 3 as a super computer.
Acoording to
PALGN he added that only increasing resolution and graphic performance does not expand the the game machine market.
This statement was made during an exclusive interview with PC Watch, a Japanese media publication.
PALGN is reporting also that to support his argument, Kutaragi pointed out the specialized nature of the PlayStation 3's architecture, including the custom-designed Cell microprocessor, which he claims gives the system supercomputer-style processing power and is designed specifically with entertainment functions in mind.
I don't konw about you, but for me, this console war is getting annoying.
