The final version of Kubuntu 13.10 will be released on October 17

The first Beta version of the upcoming Kubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) operating system has been made available for download earlier this week, bringing interesting features and improvements.

Dubbed Saucy Salamander, Kubuntu 13.10 Beta 1 is powered by Linux kernel 3.11 and is built on top of the KDE Software Compilation 4.11 desktop environment. It features new applications, such as Muon Discover, User Manager, as well as a Wireless Setup section in the installer.

Moreover, KDE Telepathy comes with better text editing and improved notifications, and a new Network Manager applet is provided by default. This first Beta release of Kubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) is distributed as Live DVD/USB Desktop ISO images, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.
