Kubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) is an operating system based on several different technologies, such as KDE Software, Plasma, Linux kernel, Debian, and Ubuntu.
Kubuntu is based on KDE SC, so it has nothing to do with the Unity desktop environment used in the regular version of Ubuntu. Therefore, no online searches are being made, either to Canonical services or Amazon.
Highlights of Kubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail):
• The distribution is based on KDE Plasma and Applications 4.10.2, which adds a new screen locker, Qt Quick notifications, color correction in Gwenview and faster indexing in the semantic desktop; • The Muon Suite for app install and upgrade has been implemented. It provides the support needed to install Plasma widgets found in KDE's KNewStuff framework, from within Software Center and Muon Discover; • Rekonq 2 is the default browser in the distribution. It has a lot of new features such as inline spellcheck, an incognito mode, a startup option, pinning tabs, and more; • The Screen Management has been improved. Users will find it easier to attach and unattach extra monitors; • Oxygen Sans, a new font from KDE's artists, is now available by default; • The installer has received an upgrade; • LibreOffice has been updated to version 4.0.1.2.
