Canonical released today, June 7th, the first Alpha version of the upcoming Kubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) operating system.

Dubbed Quantal Quetzal, Kubuntu 12.10 Alpha 1 is powered by Linux kernel 3.4 and is built on top of the KDE Software Compilation 4.8.3 environment, officially released at the beginning of May 2012.

The first Alpha of Kubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) also includes the Amarok 2.6 Beta audio player. It is distributed as Live CD (Desktop and Alternate) ISO images for the 32-bit, 64-bit and PowerPC architectures.
