14 DAY TRIAL // Even with all the disagreements regarding the Mir display server and the future of Kubuntu as an Ubuntu flavor, the 12.04.3 version has been released. Now we can see if there are any visible differences from the previous point release.
The most interesting feature in Kubuntu 12.04.3, and probably in the entire Ubuntu stack, is the switch to the new Linux kernel from Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail), 3.8.
Other changes include a new version of Upstart, 1.5, GCC 4.6.3 (and changes from Linaro GCC 4.6-2012.02), binutils 2.22, eglibc 2.15, and Linaro gdb 7.4-2012.04, and improved Oxygen-GTK 3 theme, Telepathy messenger and much more.
